Annual
Report (20 Oct 2011 - 3 Nov 2012)
Thanks to God the almighty for creating this
idea of Coastal Brains in my mind while I was in Maldives as a high school
Biology teacher. I have got inspiration and motivation to start this social
project from Mr. Stephen Fullom (England) who educated me, from my high school
to my Master Degree. So I could get a better job abroad and help my family. (please read the project description page)
I shared my views with Mr. Jerry, a Spoken
English teacher, who had been doing Bachelor of Education course with me. And
he agreed to train the kids Spoken English.

We take the kids for outing on every 4th

February
2012- We started to give the kids an exposure to
English speaking people, the foreigners who come as tourists. We take the kids
on alternative days to the beach for an hour to arrange this practical session.
Some of the tourists sympathised with the kids and appreciated our initiative
and offered financial supports. So we have got chairs with writing support, 6 bicycles
for the kids to go to their regular school, books, pens, etc.
April
2012- During the summer vacation 3 kids were sent
to Sivananda Ashram for doing a Yoga
course and the other 3 kids attended a summer
camp in Travancore cultural centre. Meantime, we conducted a basic literacy programme for the other
children of the village. Mrs.Beena was appointed as a teacher.
May
2012- We conducted the standard maintenance test for the 6 kids. The performance of one
boy was unsatisfactory and the child was excluded from the project.
June

this time: 3 boys and 4 girls.
Mrs.Beena was replaced by Ms.Nisha, a
Graduate.
The three kids who did the yoga course have
been training the other 9 kids.
